Rod was born in Montreal and through a series of moves spent most of his youth growing up as the step son of prominent Vancouver Stock Exchange financier/promoter Martin Gibbeson. This life-style encouraged an interest in mining exploration which led to a mining diploma from the B.C. Institute of Technology in 1971. From there, Rod played a key role within a group headed by renowned mine builder Chester Millar, who discovered the famous 'Afton' native copper mine near Kamloops B.C.

After seeing Afton progress through to production, Rod tried his hand in business product development and sales before completing the Canadian Securities Course and joining Canaccord in Vancouver as an investment advisor in 1986, where he remains today. Rod likes to think he takes a broad view of the investment industry while feeling most comfortable evaluating mineral resource projects. Rod believes that the diversified and healthy Canadian economy provides an excellent opportunity for investment.

Rod's other interests include his children Jennifer and Russell as well as outdoor activities such as golf, bicycling, hiking, skiing and photography.

Jason Tomkinson joined Canaccord in 2006 as an investment advisor and has built a business that provides complete wealth management solutions to a select group of corporate and individual clients who are looking for access to both private blue chip portfolio management and proprietary venture market issues.

Jason’s investment style is a true hybrid that combines top down market analysis with bottom up, value and growth security selection to arrive at a dynamic, global investment strategy.

Jason has a degree in economics from Simon Fraser University and prior to joining Canaccord, he spent several years working in the mining sector as a director of several TSX Venture listed companies. When not busy scrutinizing economic statistics, he enjoys reading, motorcycling and spending time with his family.
